Day 7 of 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting
There’s two types of ways we clean in our homes the “I’m too busy to really clean clean and the “we’re having friends and family over the house clean”. The level of cleaning that goes into our homes when guest arrive looks completely different, we’ll sweep, add two coats of fabuloso, reorganize storage space, right down to dusting off furniture, all to have a clean space for our beloved guests. However larger furniture in our homes remain unmoved living those hard to reach places untouched where “dirt” I mean sin remains.
Fasting and praying is the total package which allows us to hear God, strengthen intimacy with God, teach us to pray with the right motives BUT no matter how much we try to clean on our own we fall short every time. Great News! When we turn to God with fasting and prayer the areas in our lives that look impossible to move (people, places, and things) are possible for our Lord almighty.
There, by the Ahava Canal, I proclaimed a fast, so that we might humble ourselves before our God and ask him for a safe journey for us and our children, with all our possessions. I was ashamed to ask the king for soldiers and horsemen to protect us from enemies on the road, because we had told the king, “The gracious hand of our God is on everyone who looks to him, but his great anger is against all who forsake him.” So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.” Ezra 8:21-23
