Day 10 of 21
As we enter the second week of the fast, one word keeps coming to my mind and that is: Intention, one of the definitions of this word is a determination to act in a certain way: resolve. During this fast lets take the time to really be intentional on what we are doing and also why. Getting closer to God is an amazing right and privilege that we have as children of God, everyday we get to know more about our great God that we serve.
Matthew chapter 6 is one of my favorite chapters in the bible because in this chapter Jesus teaches the disciples how to pray and later on he gives us one of the main things in how we should live out our christian life with him daily. He says " But
the Kingdom and all his righteousness," most people rush over this part to then read: "And all these things will be given to you as well." (NIV) The main part of this text are in the first three words: But
. Ask yourself this question; What are you seeking first? Is is financial stability, notoriety among friends or just making sure your life is comfortable no matter what. These are the questions I constantly ask myself. I want to live my life the way God intend it which requires me living by faith and not by what I see in the natural .
To seek God first for me that means making Jesus the center of my life and have my life's decisions being filtered through the lens of the word of God. Is this easy to do? Do I always get things right? Absolutely not, but another favorite scripture of mine is also my daily prayer that is a reminder to me to always seek God first. Proverbs 3 verse 5-6 says: " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding but in all you do acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight."(NIV) I pray this scripture daily and it helps me realize that God is always in control and when I choose to
seek him first
He will make things right in His perfect timing.
My prayer for you is that you truly mediated on the words of Jesus in Matthew chapter 6 and making it a habit to always
Seek Him First.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." (NIV)
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
8 Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
9 Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.
10 Then he will fill your barns with grain,
and your vats will overflow with good wine. (NLT)
