Day 15 (Jan 20th) What are you thirsty for?
Home. Family. Good Heath. Children that behave. Money. Job. A nice body. New car. Great Marriage. More Money. Perfumes. Clothes. Watches. Jewelry. Decor. Fame. Relationships.
Now, more than ever, we have coveted the lives of others due to the influence of social media. It has literally re-wired the minds of kids, teens and adults to think about all the desires their heart can ask for.
Many times, we secretly make idols in our hearts on things that we desire. We pray and ask God to bless us with it. Sometimes it's given to us and sometimes its not. But even after achieving it, deep down inside we continue to stay thirsty.
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks
will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks
the water I give them
will never thirst.
Indeed, the water I give them will become
spring of water welling up
to eternal life.”
Jesus was speaking to a woman who he started a conversation near a Well. He asked for some water and she brushed him off.
The woman at the Well represents all of us in times of us chasing anything besides Jesus. I believe that she was after love, excitement, a happy future… but nothing ever satisfied her.
How many times do we run to Jesus after feeling empty and wasting hours, weeks, months and even years chasing a fantasy that will eventually bring disappointment.
We need to respond just like the woman at the well when she said : 15 Sir,
this water so that
I won’t get thirsty
and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
Today, let Jesus quench the thirst of your heart. He is the only one that can satisfy the desires of your heart! Let Him be the king of your heart !
