Day 16 of 21
“FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!”
That is what my sisters and I woke up to on a cold January morning, much like today. My mother banging on our door yelling, too weak to open it herself. I opened the door and saw the flames. I knew two facts about fire (1) it burns and (2) it spreads super fast. So I ran! Leaving my sisters and mother behind. Thankfully they reacted the same seconds later. Phew!
When we begin the Daniel Fast... I ask God what are you doing in this season? The word that came to me was - Burn.
When I began to read Isaiah two passages struck me. The first is:
Isaiah 1:31 “The mighty man will become tinder and his work a spark; both will burn together, with no one to quench the fire.”
Upon reading this, I felt so convicted. I then asked myself; why do I think I am strong enough to do things on my own strength? I then became like tinder
(a dry, flammable material)
before God. Allow God to show you the areas that need to be burned away.
I cannot imagine what would happen years ago, had there been “...no (firefighters) to quench the fire.” Thankfully we serve a God who brings beauty from ashes.
Once God burns away all our pride, resentment, anger, greediness, complacency; it is when we can experience His presence in purity. A few chapters later, Isaiah has an amazing encounter with God.
>> Read: Isaiah 6:1-8<<
Whoa! I always try to imagine this all happening as I read, and I know even that falls short. Notice the Seraphim brought a coal from the altar so hot or holy he had to use tongs. Soon after the burning away of all guilt and sins; came Isaiah’s commission. Isaiah’s willingness makes me laugh. See the task God had was no easy task. Is it ever though?Even though, after that life changing, mind blowing experience; I’d say “send me” too.
Take a moment and allow yourself to be real with God. Allow him to set your soul on fire and experience more of Him. Give room for the Holy Spirit to burn you so you can experience God in a greater way. More of Him always means less of us. This world, your friends, your family doesn’t need you! They need Him! Set this world ablaze with more of Jesus!
Let’s do it!
