Day 18 of 21
Day 17 of 21 Days of Fasting & Praying
Stop and Listen: Its not your Stomach speaking but God.
I remember years ago BEFORE the church did our 1st corporate Daniel Fast . Man it feels like it was eons ago. The Youth under Pastors LOS & Lee challenges the Leadership to dig deep, and sacrifice. When we heard it we were like “WHAT”, not because we doubted Gods voice but because our Daniel Fast took us through Thanksgiving-Christmas-and Pre-New Years. Which led to Pastor Fernando extending the Fast we had already been on into the New Year. For many of us it was tough, but as I said before, it wasn’t because we doubted Gods voice it was be WE WERE HUNGRY. Well I was. But from that very moment when we first fasted God has done some extraordinary things, and the Prophetic word that went out.
OMG ! For me I was reminded of one of the Greatest moves of God around someone who had been listening to everything but God’s super-naturalness.
1 Kings 19:9-15 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Elijah at Horeb
9 Then he came there to a cave and lodged there; and behold, the word of the Lord came to him, and He said to him, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 10 He said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
11 So He said, “Go forth and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord was passing by! And a great and strong wind was rending the mountains and breaking in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of a gentle blowing. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. And behold, a voice came to him and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 Then he said, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.”
15 The Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus, and when you have arrived, you shall anoint Hazael king over Aram;
Here we have one of the Greatest Prophets who was up against GREAT STRESS, GREAT OPPOSITION, and to top it off he was about to miss the GREATEST DISPLAY in his present moment. God wasn’t in any of the rumblings but was in the silence. If THIS FAST has taught me anything, as well as showed me-is that the moment you realize that everything happening around you that seems like God’s rumblings may actually be the leading up to Gods perfect presence in your life.
As the Fast continues, Wait and See. Notice I didn’t say Stop & See. God doesn’t want you to Stop in order to Encounter Him. But, to Wait, with great Expectations and See what HE will do in your Life during and beyond the Fast.
to continue as one is in expectation :
to cease from, leave off, or discontinue:
