You've reached the finish line. Your goal of drawing closer to God, and feeling his presence in a more intimate way is accomplished. You mastered your body, and put your flesh in submission to your spirit. Some of you are experiencing a new freedom, a new focus, new vitality. You're at a healthier place, mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Not to mention, some of you have lost some weight and you look great. Things even look and fit better on you. (wink wink)
But what do we do,
when it comes to day 22?
When the buzz is gone,
and the goal is met..
when the 'permission' is back and we soon forget.
our prayer habit, our bible study..
our posts about zucchini spaghetti..
The fellowship, the common goal..
the meal of his presence
that nourished your soul..
Day 1 was already 3 weeks ago,
and so, my friend
we need to know..
What will you do
On Day 22?
Step aside Lin-Manuel Miranda! Let's look at a super cool but convicting scripture real quick:
"Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.
2 Peter 2:22
We can take this verse out of context for a minute because it's principle speaks truth that transcends one passage. Do you want to be a dog that returns to its vomit? Or a pig that jumps right back into the mud after it's been washed? In the same way, do we really want to go back to how we used to pray before this fast? To how we used to study our bibles? To how we used to hunger and thirst for God? Can we truly say we want to go back to how physically dependent we were on certain foods and desires?
If you truly felt a drastic change/improvement in different facets of your life, then
says that you'd be a fool to return your folly from before. So the encouragement is simple: Evaluate where you were, where your are, and where you want to go. Chart a path, and stay the course! The last 21 days have been nothing but a primer, that God-willing will be a catalyst to propel you to greater heights in God this year... That is... unless... you'd like to return to the mud. The choice is yours New Life! Let's keep the fire burning, and set this city ablaze for Christ!
